Styal Running Club is on the move again, with another momentous charity challenge! All members are cordially invited to complete the European Grand Tour - 5695 virtual miles over 25 days, starting on Thursday 30th October and finishing at the Wilmslow Festive 10k on Sunday 23rd November.
The chosen charity for 2025 is once again Visyon, which supports the emotional wellbeing of children, young people and their families throughout Cheshire East.
Charity event co-ordinator Allison Kirkbride explains:
“By taking on this challenge, we’re raising awareness and funds for a wonderful charity that supports children and young people in need. Visyon provides mental health support in Cheshire East through counselling, mentoring and parental workshops. With 1 in 5 children and young people now suffering from mental health problems, this is a brilliant charity for the club to support. Every donation will make a real impact to the lives of young people.”
For the first time, this challenge recognises the contribution of all members by counting time spent running as well as distance covered, and there will be two league tables to reflect this. It will be very competitive, with the whole club “in it to win” the two coveted top places! Running Bear in Alderley Edge is supplying some eye-catching T shirts for runners to buy and wear during the challenge, as well as raffle prizes - all profits from the sales go to Visyon. Other local businesses are also kindly donating raffle prizes.
