Club Standards

New for 2025 is an opportunity to gain a club standard.

The purpose of the club standards is to provide members with an incentive to train and improve their race times and for their achievements to be recognised by the club. They also allow each runner, regardless of ability, to compare their performances against other members in the club taking into account age and gender.

The standards really are for everyone and whatever the standard you achieve it’s a fabulous achievement to be running regularly and racing for the club.

The standards are popular with lots of clubs, and we hope you will enjoy taking part.

What you need to do

You will need to compete in 4 races of different distances – 3 distances under 10 miles and 1 distance 10 miles or above is the usual requirement. The distance needs to be a timed event, Parkrun or a lap of Equinox, a trail race for example all count.

For example: 5K, 6 miles 10K and half marathon

We are conscious however that there are not too many race distances locally under 10 miles and so therefore we will approve 2 distances under 10 miles and 2 distances over 10 miles as well.

For example: 5K, 10K, half marathon and marathon

You will need to complete the races between 1st December 2024 and 1st Dec 2025. Your award and certificate will be presented at the club annual prize giving party.

We will ask you to submit your race times in early December,so you’ll need to keep a log throughout the year of your race times.

The spreadsheet below (TBC) has three tabs where you can work out the award you are aiming for. Hopefully the interactive page will work, but check out the other tabs if page one doesn’t work, scroll down to look at the different distances.

If this doesn’t make sense, just ask me, and good luck with your Club Standard races.
