Styal Running Club has embarked on its latest charity challenge - and it’s a big one!
In 2021 we attempted to run virtually to Tokyo in time for the Olympic Games - 5873 miles. Despite raising lots of money for charity, we just fell short of the total miles needed. So this year it’s the Tokyo Revenge Challenge, harnessing the running power of all 115 members for 24 days in November, culminating at the Wilmslow Festive 10k on Sunday November 24th.
The chosen charity for 2024 is Visyon which supports the emotional health of children, young people and their families throughout Cheshire East:
“If you are a child or young person, Visyon can help you improve your mental health so that you feel better about yourself and the things that happen in your day-to-day life. If you are a parent, grandparent or carer, you can come to us to gain the skills to give your child the support they need.”
You’ll be able to spot our runners during the challenge, as the club has commissioned some special T shirts, with the kind support of Running Bear in Alderley Edge. Members can buy a T shirt for £20, which comes with a raffle ticket and a chance to win some great prizes. All profits from the sales go to Visyon.
